Obituary of Robie Lohnes

Robie Lohnes passed away suddenly on February 19, 2021. He was predeceased by his wife of 47 Years, Joyce, in 2011. Left to mourn are his daughter Cindy and husband Gordon Greenham; his son Robie Bruce Lohnes; his grandchildren Jake Greenham and Katelyn Anderson, as well as his brother Bruce and wife Daphne Lohnes. Born on the south shore of N.S. he traveled across the country in the armoured corps. He met his wife while posted in Calgary and had their daughter there. Soon after they were stationed in Cornwallis where their son was born, only to move again to Gagetown and finally settled in Geary permanently. He never wanted to live anywhere else but loved to explore the country in his vehicle. He never got lost as he never planned a route ahead of time. After his military service, he continued his work by building a sawmill by hand with his best friend E. Fitt. It's on permanent display in the Woodmen's Museum, Boiestown. He went on to drive varied large trucks for different companies and retired after 25 years working on base. Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, quadding, woodworking, road trips, and talking (simple errands took forever because he had to chat with everybody he encountered, most of them he knew). He was strong, outgoing, never serious, and would help anyone without being asked. When his health deteriorated he turned to feeding the wildlife, game shows, complaining about the same 10 songs on country radio, and a daily visit to his favourite restaurant. We know he's happy to be with our mother again but we hope he grew his beard back before he got there or there will be trouble! As per his wishes, there will be no funeral. For those who wish, donations in his name may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No 93 Poppy Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
