Obituary of Gerald Ewart Nickerson

It is with sadness that the family of Pastor Gerald Ewart Nickerson announce his passing at Hospice House Fredericton, on Sunday, July 9 th , 2023, at the age of 79. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on August 12 th , 1943, he was the husband of Jean (Scott) Nickerson of Queenstown, NB.

In addition to his wife, Jean, Gerald leaves behind his son, Robert Nickerson (Mariette Gray); daughters, Anita Peppard (Tom) and Susan Smith (Jeffrey); brother, Gregory Nickerson; grandchildren, Matthew Peppard, Alicia Templeton (Dalton), Connor, Cameron and Luke Peppard, Emma Smith, Laura Moser (Caleb), Anna, Sarah, Clara and Jude Smith, Angus, Annie, Malcolm and Maisie Nickerson; mother of Robert’s children, Jennifer Mills; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Nickerson and Lillian Williams (Richard); brother-in-law, Frank Henderson; many extended family members.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd Nickerson and Ethel (Lyon) Nickerson; brothers, David, Allan and Stirling Nickerson; sisters, Mary Nickerson and Joan Henderson; as well as a sister-in-law, Vivian Scott.

Visitation will take place at Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 12 th, 2023, from 2 – 4 pm & 5 – 8 pm. The funeral service will take place from Geary Baptist Church on Thursday, July 13 th , 2023 at 2 pm, with Pastor Ben Warner officiating. A livestream of the service will be available at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIOiasGkuj4. Interment will take place in Central Hampstead Baptist Cemetery.
