Obituary of Gary Gallant

It is with sadness that the family of Gary Gallant of Oromocto, NB, announces his passing at Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS, on May 3, 2022, at the age of 75. Born in Saint John, NB, on October 10, 1946, he was the husband of Leona Gallant. Gary leaves behind his loving wife, Leona, of 40 years; his daughter Michelle (Brian) McDonough of Oromocto, NB; grandchildren Karissa, Dakota, and Harmony; step-mother Bertha Gallant of Fredericton; siblings Nancy Gallant (Pierre) and Norma Jean (Carter) Bostick, of Fredericton, NB; brother-in-law, Leo Kolijn and sister-in-law Donelda Kolijn, of Noonan, NB; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his parents Norman and Rita Gallant as well as his sister Wanda Burden. Gary served in the Canadian Armed Forces as an administrator, serving in Germany, Cyprus, and Egypt. He retired in 1989 after 25 years of service. Gary was then employed with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires where he served for 23 years in various positions in both Fredericton and the Oromocto area. Gary had a passion for model trains and watching movies with his grandson, Dakota. Gary was the happiest when all of his grandchildren were around, especially when everyone was together for their annual tree decorating at Christmas time. Gary also had a special place in his heart for his cat, Hope. The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at the Victoria General Hospital for their exceptional care and support over the last month and a half. Your care for him was very much appreciated. There will be no visitation at Gary's request. A memorial service will be held from Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Nasonworth on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Canon Albert Snelgrove will officiate. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Holy Trinity Church or the Oromocto Legion would be appreciated by the family.
