Obituary of Wayne Adelbert Gates
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing on February 19, 2022, of the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. Wayne Adelbert Gates was born in Middleton, NS, a son of the late William and Evelyn (Pickett) Gates and loving husband of Kathleen "Kathy" (Paul) Gates.
Wayne was a very kind man, friendly and generous. He would do anything for you if you needed a hand. He always ensured that his kids made it to their sports events and practices and now that they are grown, they realize just how giving he was of his time and the lesson in dedication that he taught them. Wayne was a great cook, he loved old country music and he really enjoyed reading and crosswords. He also thoroughly immersed himself in his flower gardens and derived much joy from tending to them, but beyond all this, Wayne’s greatest love was for his wife Kathleen. She absolutely was the love of his life and they felt very blessed to be given a chance to love one another for the amazing years that they had. They were best friends who loved their family dearly. His absence will be felt by all who were had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, he will be forever in the hearts of and greatly missed by his children: Christopher (Gilbert), Wayne (Amy), Melody (Ian), Terri (John) and Shannon; his grandchildren: David, Michael, Branden, Nathaniel, Madison, Abigail, Matthew, Zachary, Gracey, Chase, Riley, Zoe and Callen; great grandchildren Logan and Harlee; brothers Gary, Tony and Larry; brother-in-law Arnold, sister-in-law Dannielle and Goddaughter Alison; many nieces, nephews and extended family; including his very special nephew Rodney (Joy) and great nephew Liam and his fur babies Sookie and Marley
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Brian and sister Bette.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with a funeral service on Saturday, February 26th from the funeral home chapel at 11 AM. Proof of double vaccination and government issued identification will be required for entry to both events. Donations in Wayne's memory to the Oromocto SPCA or the IWK would be greatly appreciated. www.oromoctofh.com
