Obituary of Armande Irene Sansterre

On January 15th 2022, Armande (Amy) Irene Sansterre, surrounded by her loving children, reunited peacefully with her late husband and soulmate, Jean-Guy Sansterre. Amy was born on September 7th, 1943 in Edmundston, NB, to parents, Albert and Rosa Clavet. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Claude and Rosaire, and husband Jean-Guy. Amy is survived by her brother Gilles, and sisters Marthe Levesque (Elmer), Therese Leblanc (Jean-Marie), Adrianne Clavet and Rejeanne Levesque. To know her was to love her. A tiny little lady, with a great big heart; Amy is a testament that remarkable things come in small packages. Her family, and anyone lucky enough to have known her, describe her as the closest thing to a Saint. She was a faithful member of the St. John Paul II Parish (Saint Vincent de Paul church) community, and had a unique and powerful way of guiding both friends and strangers through difficult times, whether by saying a prayer, lighting a candle or through delivery of her baked goods, which were always beyond compare. When there was wind, her wind chimes would sing, much alike her strong will and positive spirit through any circumstance. Maintaining a keen and impressive memory, Amy reminisced on her life by recounting cherished moments in great detail years later, which is indicative of her character and level of appreciation for and attentiveness to the people and experiences that enriched her life. Amy worked a long career at the Base Gagetown Credit Union, where she met her best friend Ruthie. Afternoon visits with Ruthie in the recent years were the highlight of Amy’s weeks and could never come quick enough. Amy could always be found surrounded by family, enjoying fresh air while camping, in her screen porch in Burton, NB, beating her opponent at Skip-Bo, or curled up in her fleece jammies, buried in a good book or mastering a Sudoku puzzle. Amy’s favourite things consisted of good food (sweets especially), and warm hugs, which she promises to continue to give unexpectedly. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Williams, and two sons Gilles (Helen) and Roger (Lisa) Sansterre. "Nanny" will also be particularly missed by her grandchildren Jonathan (Michelle), Melanie (Humberto), Justine (Dave), Jeanelle (Ian), Mitchel, Nathalie, Liza, Zoey and Jacob. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Hudson, Reanna and Rohan. The family would like to especially thank Karley, for her exceptional care and compassion in the recent months, for which Amy expressed her sincerest gratitude. Also appreciated are the Oromocto Extramural Health Care staff for their dedication to making Amy feel as comfortable and at peace as possible. Due to current COVID Level 3 restrictions, there will be no public visitation or funeral. A graveside service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
