Obituary of Jessica Marie Arthurs

Jessica Marie Arthurs, of Maugerville, NB, passed suddenly on January 1, 2022, at the Dr.-L.-Georges-DuMont Hospital in Moncton. Born in Fredericton, NB, on November 15, 1999, she was the beloved daughter of Paul and Tina (Murray) Arthurs. In addition to her parents, Jess is survived by her siblings Anthony of Waterloo, Ontario, Tyler (Marie) of Fredericton, NB, Alicia of Shelburne, NS and Lauren (Dylin) of Maugerville, NB; two nieces Sophia and Elizabeth; maternal grandparents George Murray (Stella) of Maquapit Lake, and Sandra Fowler of Kentville, NS; many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as her little chihuahua named Buddy Love (el Chappo). Jess was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Alma (Arthurs) Richardson and Arthur Cogswell. Jessica was first diagnosed with a liver disease when she was 7 years old. She fought that disease with numerous trips to the hospital, operations and seeing numerous doctors since that first diagnosis, but ultimately she lost that fight to the disease. Throughout though going through all this, Jess never once let the disease take control of her life. She was determined to live life as she wanted and she did just that. She was a great friend to many and will be missed greatly by all that knew her. She had a heart of gold but a temperament that matched that auburn hair. A spitfire, little red as most knew her as. Much thanks goes out to the nurses and doctors of the Surgical ICU Unit at the George DuMont Hospital in Moncton, that took great care of Jess and made arrangements to allow us to be with Jess in her final moments. Also wish to thank Dr. Mark McMillan who was her GI in Fredericton, NB and Dr Anne Collins who acted as her family physician for most of her 22 years. There will be no viewing or funeral as per Jess’s request, but an intimate memorial to celebrate her life with the immediate family will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations to the SPCA would be greatly appreciated, as Jessica loved animals greatly.
