Darlene and family my deepest condolences on your tremendous loss I recall the first time I met John it was at a minor hockey meeting and they were trying to move the 5 year olds to a learn to skate program and John spoke on why that was not a good idea and as far as I am concerned it was because of his words that 5 year old were allowed to continue playing hockey in Oromocto at that age I got to know John even more in the military and I am sure you are going to hear a lot of great stories about the type of man John was and to me he was above all else a great family man and I cannot say that I ever seen him without a smile and his family by his side please find comfort in your family and friends

I've literally known John my entire life. Born in the same hospital only days apart, our mothers shared a room. John and I played hockey together as kids while our fathers careers would separate us, it would also bring us together. 57 years later John becomes my boss. Some may not like the idea of a lifelong friend becoming their boss, me, I cherished it because although I gave John the respect he deserved as my boss, John always treated me as his friend first. To the Fife family, if there is anything at all, I can do during this difficult time, I would be honoured to do so. I will miss you John Fife. RIP my friend !

Sincere condolences to Darlene and family on John's unexpected passing. Truly a Great Canadian, John has an incredible reputation in both The RCR and the Canadian Army as a professional soldier who was true to his word, his friends, and to those he served alongside in uniform - as well as a passion to see others succeed and see the best in themselves. Quick-wit and a great sense of humour, alongside deep compassion and desire to set things right; we all saw that he really lived by the regimental line of: "Never Pass a Fault." John is someone that was difficult to emulate, though easy to pick as somebody you wanted to be like in terms of the professional military qualities he espoused every day - whether serving Canadians in uniform, or once he took off the uniform, or others in places far from home without the benefit of the lives we live here in Canada. Rest in Peace, John, and thank you for your service to Canada and Canadians.

I came into John's office and sat across from his empty desk and just put my head down and cried. I cried for his family, our staff, our community and for my loss. John and I worked very closely and spent countless hours talking about his beloved community and his family, both that he loved dearly. He shared his vision and his passion and it was infectious. We know what you wanted Sir, and we will take it from here so that all your hard work was not in vain. May you rest in peace. My sincere condolences to his wife Darlene and family.
