Obituary of Nancy Carolyn Tynes (Byers)
It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Carolyn (Byers) Tynes announces her passing at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB, on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Nancy, only child of Norman Byers and his wife Jessie Cornfield, was born in Fredericton Junction on February 23, 1950.
Nancy was the loving wife of 37 years of Daniel Tynes; loving mother of John-Daniel Canney (Angela) and their children Marissa, Donnette, and John-Brandon. She was also the loving mother to Edward Canney, aka Ted, (Katherine) and their children Jade, Amber, and Ruby.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Her first 6 years were spent in Hoyt before her family moved to Oromocto. Nancy loved her many summer trips to Florida and Disney World which continued throughout her life and included her children and grandchildren. In all, she made 73 trips to Disney World. One included some of the 1993 Graduation Class of Oromocto High School that she and her husband Daniel arranged. She also enjoyed swimming, canoeing, cooking, family dinners, and puzzles.
Nancy sponsored a child through Children Believe of Canada all of her working and retired life. Her life’s work was as a teacher of elementary and middle school children in Lincoln, Gagetown, Oromocto and Geary. She also spent time freely tutoring children who needed her help.
Nancy was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Oromocto, until her mobility caused her to stop attending services several years ago. She was instrumental in starting the Thursday soup lunches at the St. John’s Anglican Church Hall.
As Nancy wished, there will be no visitation or funeral service. She will be laid to rest with her parents in St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery, Hoyt, at a later date.
Her wishes were for any donations in her memory to be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
