Obituary of Eric Joseph Murphy
It is with great sadness that the family of Eric Murphy of Burton, New Brunswick, announce his passing on October 13th, 2019 at the Oromocto Public Hospital in Oromocto, NB, just a month before his 71st birthday. Eric was born on November 23, 1948 in Pictou County, NS.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Donna (Danuta Zwaryczuk); children, Celina (Martin) and Danuta; grandchildren, Ivy and Jaden; his sister Elenor Katherine; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Eric is predeceased by his parents Joseph Murphy and Anna Marie (Cameron), his infant sister Lynn Marie, and brother Hugh.
Eric had a long and distinguished career with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was proud to be a soldier and was honoured to serve his country. In his 28 year military career Eric served in Egypt, Cypress, Golan Heights, and Namibia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in the garage and yard work. His fondest memories were meeting his loving wife, raising his two daughters, serving in the military and helping raise his two granddaughters. His greatest love was his Kabota tractor.
At this time we would like to thank all family and friends who stopped in to visit and to the great staff in Med 1 at the Oromocto Hospital who took great care of Eric while in the hospital.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, October 23 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
