Obituary of Kevin Flemming Warren
It is with great sadness the family of Kevin Flemming Warren announces his sudden passing on July 12, 2019 at the age of 58 .
Kevin was born on May 2, 1961 in Fredericton NB to Huxley and the late Jean (Gardiner) Warren. Kevin married Barbara Sorensen on Sept 8, 1990 and they were blessed with the birth of their precious son Cam on January 16, 1995.
Kevin will be missed by his wife Barbara, son Cam, his father Huxley, and Phyllis (mama); sisters Kathy Lewis (Matt Robertson), Lori Ramsey-Gibbon (Doug Gibbon), Lisa Ramsay (Trevor); brother John Ramsey; brother and sisters in-law Joyce and Travis McLaughlan and Lee Sorensen as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Kevin worked 12 years at CFB Gagetown heating plant and then completed his Burner/Boiler mechanic technician course and found work in Cape Dorset, Nunavut. Taking this job was difficult as it meant living away from his family, which he did for over 20 years. Kevin and his big heart made an indelible impression on everyone he touched. Wherever Kevin went, he made friends and was loved by many. But through all these years, Kevin had a false friend that didn’t want to share him; his false friend was the disease of alcoholism. With the grace of God, Kevin found the strength to admit that alcoholism was destroying his life and embarked on the road to recovery. It wasn’t a smooth journey, but with the constant love and support from his wife, friends of Bill W and family, he didn’t give up. It takes tremendous courage and daily perseverance to commit to recovery and on June 3, 2019 he celebrated his third year of sobriety together with his friends and family. We are all so incredible proud of him.
Kevin will be remembered being a huge fan of the Boston Bruins, playing darts and softball (Moosehead Outlaws), reading, doing daily crosswords, having deep compassion for his family and friends, and having a good laugh. He was taken from us much too soon and he will be deeply missed.
There will be a visitation at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. There will be a memorial service at the Oromocto United Church, 144 Winnebago St, Oromocto on Friday, July 19th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lonewater Farm Addictions Treatment Centre.
