Obituary of Judith Gautier
It is with sadness that the family of Judith Anne (Laurie) Gautier announces her death at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Friday, March 22, 2019. Born in Barrie, ON, on November 14, 1933, she was the wife of the late Jean-Pierre Gautier and the late Eric Stephenson.
Judy leaves behind her children, Marc Gautier (Christine), Anne Boudreau (Brad), Paul Gautier (Anne), and Pierre Gautier (Michelle); her grandchildren: Trish Kramer (Aaron), Laurie Donnelly (Mike), Joanna Gautier (Gareth), William Gautier (Bailey), Jesse Gautier, Jordan Gautier, and Robert Gautier; her great-grandchildren Maya and Chloe Donnelly, and her sister, Elizabeth Martin. In addition to Jean-Pierre and Eric, Judy was predeceased by her parents, Neil and Mary (Battle) Laurie; and sisters, Mary Manuell and Penny Gleason.
After growing up in Barrie, Ontario, Judy graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Hamilton in 1956. She worked for several years in her field in Hamilton and Toronto, as well as in her father Dr. Laurie’s medical practice in Barrie. After marrying in 1960, Judy raised her four children in Barrie. In 1987, Judy and her husband, Jean-Pierre, moved to New Brunswick where she has been residing since that time. Judy has always been very active in her church, sorority, craft groups and various volunteer activities. She faithfully attended her nursing reunions every year in Hamilton for over 60 years. Never one to be far from her vocation, Judy was most recently volunteering at the Oromocto Hospital gift shop. Judy will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, her faith and her devotion to family and friends.
There will be no visitation. Memorial Mass will be celebrated from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 25 Loisville St., Oromocto, NB, on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s memory can be made to Hospice Fredericton.
