My condolences to the family of Mr. Hawkes. I was a student of Mr. Hawkes at Waasis Jr High in the late 60s. He was a favourite teacher and he made literature come alive to me. I know that Mr. Hawkes played a role in my own success as a teacher. He was a wonderful and inspirational role model to students.
