Obituary of Edward Morehouse
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Edward Roderick Morehouse announces his death at the Oromocto Special Care Home on Wednesday January 16, 2019. Edward was born in Haneytown NB on July 30, 1930. He was the son of the late Raymond and Charlotte (Jones) Morehouse.
Edward was predeceased by his wife Mary and their infant daughter Judith. Edward leaves behind his daughter Susan (Bryce MacMillan), son Gordon (Brenda Brewer); grandchildren Danielle, Christopher (Jessica), and Amanda (Jeff); great-grandsons Kaleb and Nathan, and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by the staff and the many friends he made at the Oromocto Special Care Home. Edward was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Walter and Roy, and his sisters Mable Warren, Laura Grindley and Viva Arsenault.
Edward was fondly known as the popsicle man for his many years of driving the ice cream delivery truck in and around Oromocto in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Eddie greatly enjoyed looking after his farm and gardens, where he grew vegetables, strawberries and raspberries. He also enjoyed many hours tending his fish ponds and reeling in the big one. He was a fixture on the Morehouse Road all of his life, and was well known for his daily walks around the neighbourhood.
At Edward’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service for family will be held in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Oromocto in the spring. For those who wish, donations in Edward’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
We offer special thanks to the staff at the Oromocto Special Care home, Dr. Sainz and the EMP Palliative team for their care and compassion at the end of his life. Special thanks also to Dr. R. Prosser for his many years of wonderful medical care to Edward.
