Obituary of Mary Janet Fraser

It is with profound grief that the family of Mary Janet Fraser (Tweedie) announce her unexpected passing on November 10th at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB surrounded by her family. Born in Rexton, NB on March 16th, 1949, Mary was the youngest of seven and the only daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Powers) Tweedie of Kouchibouguac, Kent County, NB. Mary will be remembered for her kind heart and generous fun-loving spirit. Quick with a laugh and a joke or two, everyone was at ease in her presence. Mary had a passion for a good game of 45’s and never turned down an opportunity to play Radio Bingo. She had a great love of children and spent many years providing childcare at her home in Geary, NB. Grammie was always there for her grandchildren with love, support and apple jelly. As well as her Geary/Oromocto community, Mary will be sadly missed by her "uphome" friends and family in her beloved Kouchibouguac. Mary is survived by her husband Wayne Fraser; daughters Valerie (Rob) Bartlett and Tracey O’Dell (Terry Goerzen) of Lincoln, NB; three brothers, James (Barbara) Tweedie, Ed (Annette) Tweedie of Moncton, NB and Andrew Tweedie of Edmonton, Alberta; four grandchildren, Bradley (Frances Kwan) O’Dell of Fredericton, NB, Andrew (Nicole Hosler) O’Dell of Edmonton, Alberta, Matthew (Kira Bowie) O’Dell and Breighanna Bartlett of Lincoln, NB; two step-grandchildren, Michael (Samantha) Goerzen of Rusagonis, NB and Chelsea (Bryce Works) Goerzen of Fredericton, NB; three step great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her beloved special Aunt Gladys McIntyre of Moncton, NB. In addition to her parents, Mary is pre-deceased by her first husband John Mourant, Jr, brothers Kenney, Hughie and Robert, sisters-in-law Julia, Dixie and Ruth; and father-in-law William Fraser. Visitation will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 14th from 6pm-9pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, November 15th at 2pm with Rev. Canon Walter Williams officiating, reception to follow at the Geary Lions Club, 712 Broad Rd, Geary. A Memorial will be held in Kouchibouguac at later date. Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s-atherosclerosis research, Knox-St. James Joint Cemetery Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
