Obituary of Doreen V. (Palk) Gaudette

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Doreen Viola Gaudette. She passed quietly on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Oromocto Public Hospital, with family by her side.

Doreen was born in Pennfield to Roy and Imelda Palk on September 5, 1955. She was raised on the family farm with eight siblings (one died in infancy), all of whom she loved dearly.

As a young woman, while working at the Pennfield Milk Mart, Doreen met her love, Burrell. They married, had one son, Tom, and built a family together. Despite this new life, she insisted on making her relationships with her brothers and sisters a priority - Sunday get togethers were a must. This brought Doreen the greatest sense of joy.

At age 47, the sudden death of her husband broke her heart but she overcame her grief, eventually resettling in Fredericton. There, she was able to spend more time with her son and his family. Doreen was proud of her son and his accomplishments, and found a friend in her daughter-in-law, Rhonda. She had a special bond with her granddaughter, Kaitlyn, and always showed an interest in her talents. Doreen was always there to support her siblings and their children throughout their lives. She never missed the birthdays, graduations, weddings and baby showers along the way. Her love didn't end with family - it extended far beyond. She formed deep and long-lasting friendships throughout her life and always looked forward to her time with "the girls". For the last several years, Doreen was lovingly supported and cared for by her best friend and companion, Duane, and kept company by their cherished pets.

To all who knew and loved her, she will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. In good times and bad, take a moment to think of her and feel the warmth of her love surround you once again.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If wished, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of NB, the SPCA, or a charity of one's choice.
