Obituary of Elizabeth Grace Munn

MUNN, Elizabeth Grace, of Burton, New Brunswick, passed away on October 4, 2024, after a brief illness, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Elizabeth was born on April 17, 1934, in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Ernest and Margaret (Bachelet) Layton.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Munn; two sons, John (Susan) of Durham, Nova Scotia, and Peter (Natalie) of Oromocto, New Brunswick; two granddaughters, Sherry Walsh of Edmonton, Alberta, and Jennifer Munn of Orleans, Ontario; great granddaughter, Natasha Walsh, and great grandson, Kaleb Quinn. Elizabeth is also survived by her sisters, Yvonne Robertson, Jean DeMont, and Carol (David) Roberts.

Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her sister, Sandra; brothers, Frederick (Bernice) Layton, and Robert (Liz) Layton; nephew, Timothy Layton; brothers-in-law, Robert Robertson, Allan DeMont, Donald Munn, Delburn Munn, Keith Munn, and Bruce Munn, and sisters-in-law, Dolly Moore and Ruth Watts.

Elizabeth was employed by the Bank of Nova Scotia in Nova Scotia, and the TD Bank in Ontario and New Brunswick for many years. She was an active member of the Oromocto United Church. She was also a member of the Oromocto Pioneer Quilt Guild as well as several choirs including Lintuthine, Lyric Singers, and numerous Gilbert and Sullivan productions in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

There will be no visitation by request of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Oromocto United Church in Oromocto, New Brunswick, at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with Reverend Lori Beth Sheffield-Bowles officiating. Donations in memory of Elizabeth to the Oromocto United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
