Obituary of George Edward King

We, the family of the late George Edward King of French Lake, New Brunswick, formerly of Burnt Islands, NL, are sad to announce he has ended his adventure here on earth. George passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB, on Friday September 27th, with his wife, Katie, by his side.

George leaves behind his wife, Katie (Riles), daughters, Eunice (Eric Keeping) of Burnt Islands, NL, Lisa (Mark Strickland) of Winnipeg, MB, and Sandy (Kevin Chappelle) of French Lake, NB. George loved his girls endlessly, but his greatest treasures were his grandchildren. His eyes lit up whenever he talked about Katie (Matthew Gopez), Ryan (Chantal Gallant), Randy, Linda, and Chloe. He had many titles, but his favourite was Poppy.

George was predeceased by his parents, John and Beatrice (Taylor), two infant sons, sister Gertie Blackmore (Richard), brother Jack (Mildred) and nephew Jamie King. Also by his sisters-in-law, Mary Robbins, Amy Riles, Annie Stone, brothers-in-law, Alex Riles and Max Seaward. With fond memories he leaves behind his brothers-in-law, Clarence Robbins, Gilbert Riles, Cecil Stone, Henry Riles (Yvonne), sisters-in-law, Millie Seward, Julie Slade (Ron), along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. George especially enjoyed phone calls and time spent with his nephew Chris King of Burnt Islands, NL, and his coffee buddy Andrew Robar of Lake George, NB.

George spent the majority of his life in his hometown of Burnt Islands, NL, where he was a fisherman. After retiring, he and Katie moved to New Brunswick. He enjoyed woodworking, constructing model boats, lighthouses and birdhouses. George enjoyed road trips, travelling on ferries and going fishing. While he had many hobbies over the years, his biggest passion was spending time with his family.

As per George's wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will take place in Hillside Haven Cemetery, NL, at a later date. Memorial donations in George's memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
