Obituary of Daniel Wesley Dunn
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Daniel Wesley Dunn, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton NB on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the age of 58. Born in Fredericton, NB, on July 16, 1966, Daniel grew up in Oromocto, NB.
In addition to his dear mother Gerda (née Ebel), Daniel leaves behind his siblings Marlies Robichaud (Matthew), Barb Poirier (Ray), Dave Dunn (Laura), Mike Dunn (Sandie), Lisa Jones (Mark), Jennifer Dunn (Thomas M. Hansen of Arizona, USA); nieces Melody (James) and Jessica; nephews Lee (Melanie), Justin, and Jacob T. Hansen of Missouri, USA; great-nieces Daisy, Jordyn, Ryley and Zoe; great-nephews Cole, Owen, Anson and Ben, as well as other extended family and his close friends Bruce, Rick, Pete, and Tom. Daniel was predeceased by his father Charles Wesley Dunn and his nephew Tony Charles Dunn.
Daniel worked hard; as a cleaner, handyman, and for the better part of his life, for DND. As much as he worked hard, he loved to relax, watching a good action movie, or shows about Aliens. He enjoyed playing cards, video games, and a family favourite: YAHTZEE! His niece Jessica will fondly remember the way he would say, "LARGE, Jessica".
Daniel was special, he stood out, most of all for his unique, infectious laugh. Whether with family, friends, coworkers, or strangers, he was always playfully teasing and cracking jokes. We fondly remember times spent around the kitchen table, laughing hysterically together, as Dan regaled us with jokes and his crazy true-life experiences.
Daniel savoured food, a good burger, steak and chicken (especially wings), but his moms home cooking he loved best. His cats, especially Dixie, will miss the mountains of treats he so often gave them. His friends will miss talking, hanging out, enjoying coffee and laughing together. Our Mom will miss talking with him about hockey, his unexpected bear hugs, and the countless scratch tickets he always bought her.
Love for Daniel lives on, he will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by us his family; his friends, and by many, including special people not mentioned. As we struggle with the loss of his physical presence, we find solace in the memories he leaves us with, especially those of his one-of-a-kind smile, and that laugh, oh that wonderful laugh of his! Forever loved and always remembered, rest in peace our sweet Daniel.
A private family graveside service will be held in Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Daniel's memory can be made to the SPCA.
