Obituary of Barbara Anne Leger

The family of Barbara Anne Leger (nee Simpson) are saddened to announce her passing on Monday, September 2^nd, 2024 at Shannex-Neill Hall in Fredericton.

Mom is survived by her husband Eugene, daughter Michele, son Joe (Raeanne Fisher), grandsons Tanner (Andrea) and Ty, and great grandson Jack. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Agnes Simpson, sister Bernice and brother Doug.

Barb was born in Enniskillen, NB, on August 27, 1941, graduated from Geary High School and attended business college. She married dad in 1961 and then started a family. She was an immaculate housekeeper and incredible cook. Once Michele and Joe were older, she restarted her career. She worked in banks and retail outlets then worked in politics as an Executive Assistant for several Provincial Cabinet Ministers. Once she retired, she worked/volunteered on political campaigns.

As per her personality she put up a brave and stubborn fight against dementia. She fought it all the way.

The family wants to thank deeply the staff at Shannex-Neill Hall for their wonderful and compassionate care. Thanks also to the nurses and staff of the ER at the DECH as well as the nurses and staff of 4NE and Ambulance NB.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with Fr Callistus Abazie as celebrant. A burial will follow at the St. Vincent de Paul cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tanner and Ty Leger, Nick and Raymond Cashol, Joey Simpson and Bradley Leger.
