Obituary of Ford Cornelious Flight

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Ford C. Flight peacefully passed, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB.  Born in Port-aux-Basques, NL, he was the son of the late Ford and C. Joan (Simms) Flight and husband of Sharon (Oldford) Flight.

Ford will be mostly remembered for his wicked sense of humor, his ability to always make people laugh and feel at ease, and for the kindness he showed to those he loved.  He would "give the shirt off his back" to anyone he thought needed it.  He loved to be out in the woods, whether he was 4 wheeling, fishing, hunting or just "hanging out with the boys."  He was a proud Newfoundlander and would often tell stories about growing up in Howley, NL.  Above all else Ford adored his family, both those of his blood and those who he considered family.  He was the most happy surrounded by those he loved, and loved him in return.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharon, having been together for over 45 years.  He will never be forgotten by his daughter, Candace Flight and her children, Makayla and Kayden; his son, Sandy Boissoneau and his daughters, Danielle, Brook-lynn, Maddison, Abigail, Cassy and Nala; great grandchildren, Ella, Beckem, Zahara, Bentley and Elena; siblings, Dale Armstrong (Bruce), Walter "Hick", Todd (Ana), Rod, Susan(Otto) and Joyce (Rob); chosen granddaughter, Ayla; chosen brothers, Trent, Kevin, Martin, Chris, Jamie, Ozzy and Jeff; many nieces, nephews and extended family members as well as numerous friends whom he considered family.

He was predeceased by his parents and granddaughter, Zoey.

A memorial gathering will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 pm with words of remembrance being held at 5:30 pm to honor his life.
