Obituary of Howard William Erb

Howard William Erb passed away peacefully at the Oromocto Hospital on April 28, 2024, at the age of 87.                 

 

Howard was born March 23, 1937, in Cambridge-Narrows on the family farm and grew up in Sussex, New Brunswick. He worked for IOC in Schefferville, Quebec and Labrador City and later for Saint John Shipbuilding. After retirement, he and his wife Marilyn ran H. Erb’s Herbs where he shared his love of gardening and cooking with herbs. He will be missed by family and friends and especially the chickadees and critters that he fed by hand. The world has lost a caring, wise, humorous, and gentle man.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Marion (Straight) Erb, his daughter Corinna Marie, and sister, Pauline Hurley.

 

He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Lake-Lafrance) and stepdaughter Michelle Lafrance (Micheal Carr); his daughters (mother Esther) Coleen Anne, Michelle Louise (Shelley) and Margot Jeannine; his grandchildren Melanie, Emily, Alicia, Genevieve, Pascal, and Morgan; his great-grandchildren Aiden, Logan, Dominic, Connor, Abigail and Oliver; his sister, Irene (Dick) Grieve; niece Shannon and nephews Ian and Richard.  

 

At Howard’s request, there will be no service or reception. In his memory, be kind to animals, feed the birds and keep smiling. Donations to the Cambridge-Narrows Regional Library (2216 Lakeview Road, Cambridge-Narrows, NB E4C 1N8) would be appreciated.
