Obituary of Barbara Ann Kennedy
It is of great sadness we announce the passing of Barbara “Barbie” Ann Kennedy on August 26, 2023, at the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick, in a room filled with love and her family by her side. She was born June 24, 1951, in Lakeville Corner, New Brunswick.
The most Important thing in her life was her family. She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband and best friend, Brian W Kennedy; son, Paul E West; daughter, Shari A (Don) Dupuis; stepchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Kennedy, Gregory (Jessica) Kennedy; her brother, Wayne (Rosie) Cogswell; sister, Heather (Llew) White, and her sister-in-law, Geri Cogswell; grandchildren, Lucius, Natasha, Aubrey, Evan, Raikkonen, and Addison; many dear friends, including Pat Scott, Judy Bain, Marilyn Pruesse, and her beloved feline companion, Babes.
Predeceased by her father, Paul Cogswell; mother Bertha Cogswell, and brother, Keith Cogswell.
In addition to being a loving mother to her own children, Barbie also had a great impact on many other children’s lives. Barbie was a dedicated childcare provider for at least 30 years. Through her career, she forged many long-lasting relationships with the parents and children under her care. She was involved in their daily lives and truly loved being a positive influence in so many lives.
A special mention of Barbie’s last child she provided care for. Sophie came into Barb and Brian’s life as a 9 month old and is just now enjoying her teen years. Barbie thought of Sophie as another grandchild and loved her dearly.
With all of the family Barbie leaves behind, we cannot forget her lake family. Barbie and Brian have camped at Lakeside for almost 30 years and made many meaningful connections. Barbie will undoubtedly be missed by many people.
We invite you to come and share your stories at a gathering to celebrate her life and legacy at McAdams Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB, on Tuesday, August 29th from 6 – 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Brunswick Lung Association.
