Obituary of Margaret Thompson Mackenzie

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother and grandmother, Peggy Mackenzie of Maugerville NB.

Born in Lincoln, NB, on February 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jean (Donaldson) Campbell, and wife to the late George Mackenzie. 

Peggy is survived by her children, son, Brian (Rosemarie) and daughter, Heather; grandchildren, Shawn (Deanna), Shannon (Len), Brian Jr, Adam, and Robert (Kim); great grandchildren/great-great grandchildren, Hayleigh, Wyatt, Weston, Christopher, Jasmine, Austin, Devon, Kateliegn, Veronica, and Grant; her sister, Helen Loone (Harold), as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was predeceased by her daughter, Jacqueline and son, Robin; her sisters Jeannie, Janet, Betty, Isabella, and Mary; as well as her brothers Jack, James, Robert Jr, and George.

Peggy was a member of the New Brunswick Women’s Institute and advocated for women of all ages to empower them throughout the community. In her spare time, she loved to knit and made some beautiful quilts. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
