Obituary of Heintje Schmidt

The family of Heintje Schmidt, 44, of Oromocto, New Brunswick, sadly announces he passed away on August 10, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer. 

Heintje was born on April 25, 1979, to Maurice and Hélène (Fortin) Schmidt in Matane, Qc. After high school, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces; where he had a long and courageous career, serving in many overseas missions. 

In 2013, Heintje met Maryse Foisy-Clavette, and they wed in 2017, going to have two children, Félix and Simon Schmidt. 

Heintje is lovingly remembered by his mother Hélène Fortin, his wife Maryse (Foisy-Clavette) Schmidt and two sons, Félix and Simon Schmidt, his half-sister Marie-Andrée Truchon and his many friends and co-workers. He was predeceased by his brother Yohann Schmidt, his father Maurice Schmidt, his father-in-law Patrice Truchon and his dear uncle Régis Fortin. 

The family wish to thank the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital and the New Brunswick extra-mural program. 

A funeral service will be held on August 26 in Matane, QC. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
