Obituary of Andrew Smullin

It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew Smullin, announces his sudden passing at home, following a short battle with cancer. Born in Fredericton, NB, on August 30, 1970, he was the son of Rita Smullin-Richards and the late Paul Smullin.

In addition to his mother, Rita, Andrew is survived by his siblings, Deborah Penney (Robert), of Ottawa, ON, Randy Smullin (Doris Chapelle), Oshawa, ON, and Judy Smullin (Brad Harris), of Lower St. Mary’s, NB; Leighton Harris, Miramichi, NB, nieces and nephews, Natasha Veltchev (Stoyan), Victoria Harris (Andrew Dykeman), Justin Hank, Donnie Harris (Jenna) and Bradley Harris (Farrah) and several aunts and uncles.

Andrew was predeceased by his father, Paul, sister, Gail, infant brother, David, his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Andrew was very loving and cared for those around him. He enjoyed any social event and loved holidays with his family and would put in his request for favourite meals. He couldn’t miss a hockey game and his favourite team was the Toronto Maple Leafs. Music was also a love of Andrew’s and he was Metallica’s biggest fan; he would practice on his drums for hours.

Andrew loved his family at Grand Lake Comfort, especially Tara. He often spoke of his caregivers and we knew how much he loved them. Our family would like to thank each person who was part of Andrew’s extended family in Mill Cove; thank-you for the extra love you showed him over the last couple of months.

A private service for Andrew’s two families will take place. Donations in Andrew’s memory may be made to the Cancer Research Society.
