Obituary of Harry Jonathan Bridges

Bridges, Harry Jonathan The death of Harry Bridges of Sheffield and recently of Mill Cove Nursing Home occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, September 21st, 2009. Born February 20th, 1922, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Ethel (Babbitt) Bridges and wife to Edna (Slipp) Bridges of Mill Cove Nursing Home. Harry is survived by his wife, Edna; his daughters, Marilyn Bridges and Margaret Powers (John) and his grandchildren, Melanie, Scott, Andrew and Julie Powers. Harry’s grandchildren were his joy and he was a friend and neighbor to many in Sheffield and Maugerville. He worked in various places over his lifetime including J. Clark and Son in Jemseg; Diamond Construction, where he helped build the town of Oromocto; Capital Co-op, where he delivered milk and Co-op Home and Farm Supply. He enjoyed gardening, reading and especially visiting with family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Aubrey Trail officiating. Interment will take place in the Upper Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation. (357-5100)
