Hi! I was a military kid living in Oromocto 1976-1978. I have fond memories of a place that I knew as "Winchester's Candy Store". So I looked it up just now and find that it was "Winchesters Esso and Convenience Store" started up by Bill Winchester. Since I was just a kid at the time, I only remember the candy part! It was great bringing a a quarter (25 cents!) to the store and getting 25 pieces of the penny candy of my choice! It must have been Mr. Winchester getting the paper bag out and patiently scooping up 5 pieces of marshmallow bananas, 5 pieces of sugary strawberries, 5 pieces of something chocolatey, ....etc.... and then it was fun walking home on a warm summer day, probably with a friend, munching on our treats. Bill Winchester sounds like he was a great guy -- my sincere condolences to the family.

Ian and family, so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Deepest sympathy. He was a great Oromocto citizen in so many ways, businessman, coach, friend. I like the following - "you don't die when you cease breathing - you only die when there is no-one left to remember you". Your dad will be long remembered.
