Obituary of Daniel Roderick Edmond
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Daniel Roderick Edmond announces his passing on October 25, 2025 at Hospice House Fredericton.
Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, on July 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Celestin and Adeline (Bourgeois) Edmond. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen “Kay” of 69 years and their children, Judith Walcott, Michele Greeley, and Kathleen Malloy (Stephen); grandchildren, Ian, Amber Leah, Marissa, Jason, Darren, Adam, Corey and Lindsay; great grandchildren, Liam, Abby, Ryan, Emma, Connor, Jacob, Abel, Gabriel, Ezekiel, Riley, Jackson, Jaedyn and Connor; brother, Wilfred Edmond (Annie); and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Bernard and Anthony; sisters, Bertha, Mary, Amelia, and Frances.
Dan joined the military in 1955 and his military service took him across Canada and around the world with 13 postings in his 30 year career. Being in Administration, Dan was attached to many units where he made lifelong friends. His life was one of service, devotion and deep connection to his family.
The Edmond family offers their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and volunteers of the Hospice House Fredericton.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Callistus Abazie celebrating. Interment will take place in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery following the service, with a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan’s memory to Hospice House, Fredericton.
